Getting children into weightlifting is not just a goal for me; it's a mission rooted in the belief that this sport can positively impact their physical and mental development.
Weightlifting fosters discipline, builds strength, and instils confidence in young athletes.
The AMG Academy helps to deliver on this goal we offer affordable coaching ranging from beginners classes all the way to the elite end of our sport.
There are numerous benefits to starting weightlifting at an young age, it can set the foundation for lifelong health, fitness and strength. As well as offering a great social activity for your child.
Our sessions are designed to provide a safe, supportive environment where children can great technique, understand the fundamentals of strength training, and develop a love for the sport.
We prioritise education and safety, ensuring that each child receives personalised guidance while respecting their individual capabilities and goals. By nurturing their interest in weightlifting, we aim to create not just athletes, but well-rounded individuals who appreciate the importance of fitness and teamwork.
As the British Weightlifting Talent Pathway Coach for the North and Midlands, I always have a technique first approach, enabling young athletes to learn safely.
Our supportive environment fosters a love for the sport, allowing participants to compete at their own pace, primarily for enjoyment, however we are a very successful club at youth level having, proudly, celebrated over 10 national champions and more than 100 medals, along with four international athletes.
Our structured progression pathway organises participants into three skill-based groups, promoting personal and athletic growth in their weightlifting journey.

We feel this develops better athletes in the long term and the current coaching research backs this up
